FAQ
Getting Started
• How can I find out if Cannabis (Marijuana) is the proper treatment for me?
It is best to have a conversation with a medical marijuana certifying professional to determine whether cannabis would be a good treatment for you. Since Medical Marijuana has become more widely used there are more certifying physicians and nurse practitioners available who have extensive experience with cannabis treatment.
• What steps do I take to become a Medical Marijuana patient? If your Primary Care Physician is not able to certify, you can visit Massachusetts Cannabis Certifying Physicians and Nurse Practitioners to find a certifying physician or nurse practitioner who can recommend the medical use of marijuana for you. Once you have obtained a certification from a MD, then the patient registration process will begin. Visit our Become a Patient page for details on the process with state program links.
• How do I apply for the Massachusetts Medical Use of Marijuana Program? You can visit our Become a Patient page with resources directed to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. If you would like to register on paper rather than online, contact the Medical Use of Marijuana Program at 833-869-6820 to request paper forms. Email the Medical Use of Marijuana Program at: Commission@CCCMass.com or contact them via their website here
• What are the Qualifying Conditions for Obtaining MMJ certification?Cancer, Glaucoma, AIDS/HIV+ Status, Hepatitis C, ALS, Crohn’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis with other “debilitating conditions”, determined by a qualifying patient’s physician or nurse practitioner, including chronic pain, Rheumatoid Arthritis, PTSD, insomnia, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and stress.
• How long is my certification good for?Your certification is good for a year. You will need annual recertification from a certifying physician or nurse portioner who recommends medical marijuana. The cost ranges from around $75-$200, annually. Discounts may be available for veterans and those who can prove financial hardship. Here is a list of our featured cannabis certifiers and a full list of certifiers in your area.

Patient Care
• How do I know which strain is right for me?
ACS’s goal is to find the right strain and dosing for each unique patient. Our medicine is grouped by a color-coded EFFECTS to simplify the selection process. Our highly-trained staff will guide you through the selection, at the dispensary counter, answering your cannabis questions and concerns.
• Will I get instructions on how to use?Our team is trained to provide instruction on proper use, appropriate method and dosing guidelines. It is very important to START LOW and GO SLOW with respect to dosing. Every person has a unique Endocannabinoid system that will respond to marijuana differently. We recommend and can provide a tracking tool to assist in getting best results.
