How long have you been with ACS? Almost a year and a half I believe. I was hired in August of 2023.
What do you enjoy about your role? Being able to help with all the fine details to make things run efficiently in retail. I love getting to know and interacting with everyone who walks through the building – from patients to staff.
What draws you to medical cannabis? I was drawn to the industry being a medical patient myself. At a young age, I was diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. Was in and out of hospitals for as long as I can remember, suffering from a list of not fun symptoms with no good answers on how to make them stop. As I got older, I began researching medical cannabis and its effects. Known for its benefits specifically around chronic nausea and pain, I thought I would give it a try and it absolutely changed my quality of life for the better. After realizing how beneficial it could be for certain conditions it sparked my love and curiosity for the world of cannabis.
What do you enjoy about your position? Getting to talk to and interact with patients. I love being able to help people and connect with them. Being a smaller business, I enjoy how we get to take our time to get to know our patients and what they enjoy the best. Nothing is better than getting something fresh on the menu in a while and able to be like ,” I just know (patient) is going to be so excited when they see this
As a patient, what products do you find helpful? How has cannabis helped you?
I find that flower is the most beneficial for me. Due to the quick effects it is incredibly beneficial for my nausea and pain. Additionally, it also helps with appetite issues. Cannabis has allowed me to rely significantly less on pharmaceutical anti-nausea medications.
What is something surprising about cannabis that someone who hasn’t consumed before might not know? Not all flowers are created equal. When I first started smoking, I used to giggle a little at the people who preached that if you pay attention to what you smoke, you can learn how what lineages and terpenes are best for you. It turned out they were correct, and then I too became one of those people. Flowers are like snowflakes, unique and special in their own ways.
What are your favorite ACS products? As a flower person, I’m a fan of our more indica leaning flowers. Sour Banana Sherbert, Night Terror OG, The Black, Purple Chemdawg are all some of my top favorites. I have a tendency to go for pre-rolls, because while I can roll I really don’t want to yk. Additionally, I’m an avid user of our Unscented Topical Balm. It’s so beneficial for localized pain and inflammation.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?I am a lic ensed cosmetologist by trade and still take an occasional client. However, I’ve taken a step back to enjoy my free time with my friends and loved ones. I love to bake and cook. Nothing is better than being baked and baking. I am also a chronic homebody. I love to watch TV and relax with my dogs on the couch. I’m a lover of Cartoon Network, True Crime, and TLC-Style Reality TV.
Anything else you’d like to add? Hopes/dreams for medical cannabis? I personally hope that Medical Cannabis will continue to operate focused on small businesses. I personally love going to cannabis stores and having more personal experience rather than feel like I am shopping online. I also am hopeful for Social Consumption in MA, and how groundbreaking it will be if done effectively. I also hope that medical cannabis continues to be de-stigmatized as it is very beneficial to a wide variety of people.
