The First Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Hull
Alternative Compassion Services (ACS) is excited to announce Hull’s first medical cannabis dispensary, opening the Summer of 2021. ACS will transparently provide high quality medical cannabis products while focusing on patient education, safety, and community support. In February of 2020, a Community Outreach Meeting was held at The Anchor of Hull, a non-profit providing support, prevention, and recovery for those struggling with substance use disorders. At this meeting, representatives from ACS presented material on the safety plans and residents had the chance to ask questions and express their concerns.
Located in Hull’s Marijuana Overlay District, ACS’s second retail location is zoned for 175 George Washington Boulevard, and is expected to open before the end of the year. The facility is registered as a Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (medical retail only). ACS has met all municipal bylaw requirements and has received special permit approval from the Hull town officials to start construction. ACS has agreed upon and signed a Host Community Agreement, with town officials to provide economic and financial investment into the Hull. ACS presented to the Town Planning Board and was approved for this special permit in March. Hull residents filled the room to present support and personal testimonies as to why a medical dispensary should be permitted in Hull, with zero opposition. With policies and procedures in place to protect the community, patients, and employees, ACS will work with local police and fire department officials to ensure community safety.
ACS is a locally owned and operated seed-to-sale medical cannabis dispensary currently operating in Bridgewater. ACS has been cultivating, producing, and dispensing cannabis to medical patients, at 693 Elm Street in Bridgewater, for two years and has not had any security or public nuisance issues. All product for the Hull location will be transferred from ACS’s Bridgewater location, in a safe and secure manner, during hours of operation. ACS also offers a Home Delivery program to registered qualifying patients in the Hull area, as well as Veteran and Verified Financial Hardship discounts.
Local townspeople who are qualified registered patients and caregivers deserve to have safe access to regulated cannabis medicine. Complying with local and state regulations, the location has a 500-foot buffer zone from existing public or private schools (K-12), playgrounds, and recreational parks to ensure public safety. Outfitting the building with state-of-the-art security and surveillance systems, ACS seeks to hire retail and security agent positions in early fall from the town of Hull and surrounding communities disproportionately harmed by cannabis prohibition. Once construction is complete and ACS receives a final license from the Cannabis Control Commission, patients who enter the dispensary must provide two forms of identification to enter the building. State ID and a Medical Marijuana Program ID card are required to prevent diversion to minors.
ACS’s goal is to help patients find the right form of medical cannabis for the needs of each patient, with a certifying cannabis recommendation. Like ACS’s Bridgewater location, private consultations and group educational seminars will be provided to medical cannabis patients. ACS continues to de-stigmatize medical cannabis use through education and by providing a professional, clean environment. While only specific physicians and nurse practitioners can provide certification for medical cannabis, patients are encouraged to inform their primary care physician to ensure there are no negative interactions with other medications and to share their success stories.
An opening date for the Hull location has not yet been determined. Stay up to date with Hull’s first medical cannabis dispensary by signing up for the ACS monthly newsletter!
