Get / Renew Your Card
Patients and Caregivers who are enrolled in the Massachusetts Medical Use of Marijuana Program will require Annual Certification, by a Certifying MD or NP, and annual MMJ card registration with the state. Below are a list of resources to help with the certification/recertification and registration process to obtain/renew your medical marijuana card.
Cannabis Cert/Recertification
Once per year, Patients must obtain recertification for the Medical Use of Marijuana program. The recertification expiration date can be found under the Patient’s profile in the Online Portal. Patients must contact their Certifying Cannabis Physician or Nurse Practitioner to schedule an appointment. With tele-medicine now available, Patients may receive certification in person or from the comfort of their home. Annual recertification costs anywhere between $75-$200, with special discounts for Veterans and those with proof of financial hardship. Find a Cannabis Certifier near you. Keep in mind the expiration date for certification and registration may be different dates.
State Registration
Once per year, Patients and Caregivers must register with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program via the Massachusetts Online Portal, here. This portal is used to check certification expiration, state registration expiration, patient allotment, and to generate an annual Caregiver PIN. There is no fee for annual state registration. Caregivers must also register annually. Patients can log-in to the Online Portal up to 60 days before their registration expiration date. We recommend Patients and Caregivers register their cards with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) at least 30 days before their expiration date to prevent program interruption and card lapse. The expiration date for program registration can be found on the Program ID card.
