How long have you been with ACS? November marks 7 months with ACS (6 years and 7 months in the cannabis industry)
What do you enjoy about your role? I enjoy being a part of such a kind and welcoming group of people that are passionate and care about what they do.
What draws you to medical cannabis? The ability to combine my human services background and passion for helping people with the plant I believe in and stand behind as medicine is what drew me in. There’s so much to learn about medical cannabis; the fact that there are so many different forms that this plant can take to help people treat such a wide variety of medical issues is what keeps me here.
What do you enjoy about your position? Or What is your favorite product to produce? I really enjoy the “peek behind the curtain” I’ve been getting into my favorite form of consumption, concentrates & extracts. As cliche as it is, it’s all my favorite. I enjoy each of the different processes that all our products take. From the Nano Enhancer to EHO, Hash and Rosin to Distillate it’s all fun and interesting.
As a patient, what products do you find helpful? How has cannabis helped you? As a patient I use all types of cannabis. Flower, edibles, topicals, tinctures, and concentrates/extracts. Cannabis has helped me treat both physical and mental health issues I have. It makes it easier for me to function in my day-to-day life.
What is something surprising about cannabis that someone who hasn’t consumed before might not know? There’s a lot more to cannabis than the THC. While looking for the highest amount of THC may seem like the way to go, Cannabis has gotten stronger over time. Because of this, the highest TAC (Total Active Cannabinoids) isn’t always going to give you the best effects. Components such as the active Cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBG, CBC, THCV to name a few) and the terpenes (natural chemical compound found in many plants and animals not just cannabis responsible for aromas and taste) are what work together to create the (entourage) effects as a whole. You may find that the 18.3% TAC flower works better for you than a 28.3% flower because of those entourage effects. Ultimately the beginning of your cannabis journey is going to be a bit a trial and error until you find the best strain or terpene profile that works best for you.
What are your favorite ACS products? I’ve enjoyed the EHO, Live Rosin, and various carts I’ve had. I’m also a sucker for a tasty baked good, so the cookies and brownies really hit the spot too.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? You can most likely find me at home just hanging out with my spouse and our 20-year-old cat. Though I am usually down to try just about anything once, so you never know what my next spontaneous adventure is.
Anything else you’d like to add? Hopes/dreams for medical cannabis? I hope medical cannabis continues to evolve. That we can continue to decrease the stigma associated with cannabis and the people who use it. And ultimately for cannabis to be federally rescheduled so it can be seen as the medicine it’s always been.
